Gary Means
~ Pastel Artist ~
Gary Means, a native of Beaver County, Pennsylvania, developed an early interest in Commercial Art. In 1965 this resulted in an Associate Degree from Universal Art Academy, Pittsburgh, PA where he also taught for three years.
His early passion for illustration as a teenager led him to create “Parables in Pastels.
His illustrated themes and stories from the Bible and many other subjects, using pastels, special lighting effects, and background music, rendered a finished painting, LIVE, before the audience in less than 25 minutes!
He took his “Parables in Pastels” on the road which traveling locally and throughout the country, painting, speaking, and preaching the gospel to many churches, groups, and organizations.
In 1999, a commission from the Cranberry Twp. Historical Society to illustrate a book on the History of Cranberry Twp., led to an interest in recreating scenes from the 1940’s and 1950’s of nostalgic Beaver County locations.
These scenes remain popular and continue to conjure treasured memories to this day.
Gary and his wife, Marty, are now retired and living in Economy Borough , PA
Most of his paintings can be purchased as Giclee Prints, with some originals still available.
